hi, my name is georgie and i am a 19 year old zoology and animal behaviour student and photographer from the uk.
i currently use a nikon d5100, with the 18-55mm, 55-300mm and sigma 150-500mm lenses.
i have a huge passion for painted wolves / wild dogs, and currently operate the social medias for the painted wolf foundation. i first discovered the species when i underwent an 8 week zoo academy course at zsl london zoo in 2016 after they had had a litter of 11 pups. seeing all 14 dogs completely tuned into our every move and every noise that we made had me completely entranced, and it was through my brief time working with that pack that i realised they were the species i wanted to work for.
I also spent a week at blackpool zoo as part of the residential aspect of the gold duke of Edinburgh award. here, i spent time observing the behaviour of different species, and learning about & handling a wide variety of exotics.
i am an aspiring zoologist, currently studying at bangor university in north wales. this means my more 'local' zoos are welsh mountain zoo and chester zoo, which i hope to visit more of in the future once the covid-19 pandemic calms down. when i am not at university, i live near birmingham in england, with my local zoo being dudley zoo.
i currently have a years pass for both dudley zoo and london zoo, which make these my most frequently visited and most-loved collections.
you will find with my work that i spend the majority of my time with the big cats and wild dogs, as these are the species i love the most. however, i still have a huge love and appreciation for every animal at any zoo, and tend to spend more of my time actually observing them rather than photographing them.
